November 5 Photography Meetup at Skyline Drive

On Saturday, November 5,2011 I took a trip with the Frederick County Photography Club to Shenandoah National Park. 5 members attended. The fearless leader, Jamie, rented a van and he drove us to Skyline Drive in Virginia. We parked in the Big Meadows parking lot and hiked to Rose River Falls. On the return hike to the van we came across a momma and baby black bear. I was only able to get one shot which if you didn't know you were looking at a baby bear, you would think that it was a black blob.If you scroll down to the bottom of this post you can see what the bear looked like in a picture taken by a true professional. I was the "scaredy cat" of the group. Some of the members of my group were much more "adventurous" than I and got closer to get a better shot.

In some of the pictures you can see the remaining snow from last weekend's unexpected snow storm. Glad we weren't scheduled that weekend!

This is the bear we saw next to our path. This picture was taken by Jamie, our group organizer. Didn't he do a terrific job? Now you see why I stayed away :o)!

Black Rock Mill

Larry took a vacation day on Wednesday. We drove over to Black Rock Mill so that I could take a few pictures before all the beautiful Fall leaves have fallen from the tree branches.

This picture was taken looking inside the mill door. Unfortunately no one is allowed inside the building so I had to take this through the bars.

If you look to the lower left side and bottom, Larry is looking pretty seriously at the camera!

Photo Shoot at Brunswick, Maryland

On Saturday, Larry and I met up with some new friends and went on a day adventure. Our original plan was to meet at Great Falls on the Maryland side to take waterfall pictures but the water was low and it was raining "cats and dogs" so we decided to tour a couple wineries and when the weather broke, we went to Bruswick, MD to finish our day.

This picture was taken with a filter.

Next we went to Brunswick and stopped at the Marc Train Station

These pictures were taken of the Potomac River near Knoxville.

These flowers were found along the sandy shoreline.

Last but not least, I couldn't end my day without taking pictures of the dogs. Unfortunately Stetson was not into pics today so I didn't get one of him.

Chet at 16 weeks

In these pictures, Chet is 16 weeks old and approximately 26 lbs and still growing! He now towers over Stetson and Stetson's only defense is to bite Chet's mouth when he has had enough playtime. Unfortunately for Chet or maybe I should say for Stetson, Chet is a very slow learner. The bite only phases Chet for about 20 seconds and he is back for more!

Larry wanted to have a dog of his own so we now have three. Yes three dogs! Meet Chet, our newest addition to the family. Chet was born on April 1, 2011 and in this picture is 9 weeks old and still growing....

I have tried to capture Jack doing his circle dance since he first came to stay. Every time he would circle, I would never have my camera. I just happened to have my cell phone and took the video. It isn't the best but you can see how funny he is doing his dance.

Today has been the greatest day. I received so many birthday wishes from family and friends and some "bling" from my hubby. I also received some beautiful flowers from my very good friend, Nikki!

I must be out of my mind but I got up at 4 AM this morning to trek down to DC to photograph the beautiful cherry blossom trees. I was supposed to meet one of my photography club members but he accidentally overslept. He totally missed the sunrise. That's ok because I was supposed to get up and meet him on Saturday for a group outing. I woke up on Saturday (thanks to Jack and Stetson) and the sky was cloudy and the forecast was calling for rain all day. So I ended up staying home. We did get a huge downpour in Poolesville but Washington only had light showers. I guess I should have gone on Saturday. Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day but I really missed the "instructional" help from my club.

This picture was taken right as the sun was beginning to rise. It is a little dark but it was an absolutely beautiful morning.

Did I say I was taking pictures of cherry blossoms? I did get a little distracted.

For my birthday, Larry took me to dinner at May's Restaurant in Frederick. It was such a pretty evening. We sat outside on the patio and cracked crabs, ate shrimp and broiled clams. It was a great evening.
